It means the start of warmer weather and the beginning of the latter part of the year.

In sport, it means football grand finals, the spring horse racing carnival, the start of the cricket, and this year, the XIXth Commonweath Games.

For others it means BBQs, markets, fairs and festivals and the promise of holidays with family and friends.
