Asia Moon Bear Rescue

Animal Asia Moon Bear RescueMoon Bears fundraising jewellery & bags

Today, across China and Vietnam, more than 11,000 CRITICALLY ENDANGERED Moon Bears are trapped on bear bile farms in cages no bigger than their own bodies. These bears do not have free access to food or water, and have their bile extracted via a rusting metal catheter at least daily.

The bile is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for liver complaints, eye complaints, hangovers, haemorrhoids, and it claims to even make your hair shiny. Bear bile can be easily replaced with herbs, and can be synthesised easily in a laboratory.

The Founder of Animals Asia Foundation, Jill Robinson MBE, is devoting her life to end bear bile farming through education and now over half of China is bear bile free. She has built two Sanctuaries, one in China and one in Vietnam where the rescued bears are cared for for the rest of their lives.

Jill is coming to Canberra on July 13th. A function is being organised by the ACT Moon Bear Support group at Teatro Vivaldi. Cost is $50.00 which includes a two course vegetarian meal and a glass of wine on arrival ($40 of each ticket is being donated back to the Bears). All booking are made through www.animalsasia.org
